Macfarlanes
Macfarlanes is a law firm known for its excellence, distinctive culture and forward-thinking attitude. The problem? Their brand didn’t communicate this. Our challenge was to create a new website, reflective of the stature, quality and spirit of the firm, which would help to revitalise the brand for the modern world, without losing its heritage.
Client: Macfarlanes
My role: Digital and UX design, visual concept
Early on we discovered that Macfarlanes is one of the oldest firms in London and has never merged. Our approach was to reflect this through the concept of ‘ever enduring’, the notion that something can stand the test of time whilst evolving and changing.
This was at the core of how we created a mood for the website, taking visual cues from enduring quality and beauty of nature to create a fresh design around graceful movement and elegance. The project itself evolved to developing Macfarlanes as a brand, applying the concept to other forms of communication.
This was my first fully-fledged digital branding project, working from concept phase through to delivery. I learnt the importance of creating not just the interactive elements of a website but how it should feel too, by applying an art directors eye alongside design and craft skills.
